Air Hockey For Beginners

Air hockey is a fast-paced table game, often seen in tandem with other games such as bumper pool and football. A regular air hockey table comprises of a four feet by six feet area suspended from the floor.

Its top portion is perforated with petite holes allowing the flow of generated air. The playing field is often decorated with blue and red lines like those observed in ice hockey.

How to Start

To begin, one player is determined as the server. The puck is located on the other side of the table and the server has to be staggering by the other player. The receiving player can return the puck the occasion it crosses the centerline.

Air hockey players can't block shots with other body parts and just have seven seconds to charge the puck the occasion it reaches their end. In air hockey, the most base strategy lies in waiting for the opponent to pull out of the position and make a repetitive pattern.

Table Setup

The table is provided with side rails as trick shot hold and also to keep the puck in play. The game play mostly depends on misdirection and deception. This makes rail and bank shots very prominent to master.

Two slots are provided on whether side of air hockey table. The game's main objective is to make use of extra strikers called paddle or mallet that will help to force the puck into the opponent's goal. The someone scoring first becomes the winner.

Strategy

Usually, a direct shot to the goal is successful. Other strategies comprise changing the pace for misdirecting the opponent or angling the puck to hit the corners of the goal. Air hockey tables used in tournament are larger and players use additional patterns to distract their opponents.
