Using Grape Stencils to Make it Easier to generate gorgeous Walls in Your Home

Grape and grapevine motifs stenciled onto walls are a feature of the favorite Tuscan style in home décor but can also be an attractive complement to other styles that embrace an old world look. Stencils today come in a wide collection of designs and are reusable. A grape or vine leaf motif could be just the thing to close off your kitchen décor. If you like relaxing with a glass of wine on your patio, grapes and vine leaves might be the perfect image to choose.

Locations for Stenciling

Rack Rails

Stencils are the ideal way to generate eye-catching borders that can complete a room or add an individual touch to your décor. Borders don't just belong at cornice or photograph rail level. You can use them midway between floor and ceiling, like a dado rail, or even at skirting board level.

You could also reconsider stenciling your grape motif colse to features of a room, either because they are too plain or need jazzing up or as a way of directing concentration to attractive features. If you have a wine rack, you could feature it with a grape or vine surround.

Doors and windows are inevitable choices for stenciling around. A grapevine trailing above a window hints at the outdoors beyond. In traditional Tuscan homes, homeowners often used the space above the door frame for an attractive motif, such as a bowl of fruit, as we would think of hanging a picture.

Choosing the Right Design

The number of stencils ready might make your option difficult but you can narrow it down by considering the supervene you want to achieve. Grapevines with bunches of fat grapes are busier and visually stronger. A straightforward meandering vine can be subtler and simpler designs are sometimes a better option for borders.

If you want both the vine and the grape motifs, you don't have to have them together. A vine leaf border colse to the walls and bunches of grapes, stenciled separately as accents (perhaps above the door frame or an alcove), will generate variation. Obviously, the larger your stencil pattern, the bolder the effect, depending on the colors you pick and the extent to which your foreground color contrasts with the background.

Color Choices

Just because grapes are red and leaves are green doesn't mean you have to supervene suit. A essential part of the charm of the grape institute lies in the form and pattern, and (within reason) you can pick any color (or set of colors) you like.

As mentioned, you will need to pick your motif color to complement that of your walls, as excess dissimilarity will spoil the effect. A color wheel can help in choosing complementary colors. The Tuscan style depends on soft, earthy hues and the old world look similarly depends on colors that are muted, smoky and subtle.

To improve the look, use some shades of your chosen colors, blending them carefully to improve the impression of age and wear. Faux painting techniques that generate a distressed look may complete the effect.
